Carers are people who without
payment provide help and support to
family or friends who cannot manage
on their own due to physical or
mental illness, disability,
substance misuse or frailty brought
on by old age.
Caring roles can include helping
with medicines; lifting, moving and
handling; and personal or emotional
care. However, many people do not
associate themselves with the term
‘carer’ – they are simply looking
after someone else unable to do
things for themselves.
In many cases caring can be a hidden
issue and many people are unaware
that they are carers or that help is
available.
If you are in a caring role please
let us know. We will try to help you
by listening to what you tell us
about caring and the needs of the
person you look after. We can also
make sure that you are offered
regular health checks and flu jabs
if required.
Please ask for one of our Carer
Packs if you would like more
information.
